As a Buddy, you can manage Circle members, assign Buddy status and give people additional access to a Supported User’s information.
Some members may already have access through their organisation's Role-Based Access (RBA) settings.
Changing a Circle Member’s Buddy Status
Log in as a Buddy for the Supported User.
Open the Supported User’s Circle.
Click Manage Access.
Find the Circle member you want to manage.
Use the Is Buddy switch beneath their username:
On (green) – The person is a Buddy.
Off (grey) – The person is not a Buddy.
Buddies have full administrative access to the Supported User’s Wiki, Diary, Media, Goals and other supported features.
Managing Roles and Additional Access
You can also:
Edit a Circle member’s descriptive role, such as Parent, Teacher or Support Worker, using the pencil icon.
Change their Circle category (Friends, Family, Support or Other).
Give them access to additional Wiki Sections, Diary folders, Media folders or Goals.
How Role-Based Access Works
Some Circle members already have permissions assigned by their organisation's Portal Admin through Role-Based Access (RBA).
For example:
A Support Worker may have View access to a Supported User’s Wiki through their organisational role.
The Buddy can give that person additional Edit access through Manage Access, without changing their organisational role.
Important: Permissions granted through Role-Based Access cannot be removed or reduced from the Circle's Manage Access area. These must be changed by the Portal Admin.
Important Notes
Buddy status assigned by the Portal Admin cannot be changed here.
Permissions assigned through Role-Based Access cannot be changed here, although additional access can be granted.
You cannot make another Supported User a Buddy.
Only grant additional access where appropriate and in line with the Supported User’s wishes.
For managing organisation-wide roles and permissions, see the Portal Admin Guides – Role-Based Access.
